Root Canal Treatment at Family Oak Dental
Hearing the words root canal can make anyone nervous — but the truth is, modern root canal treatment is much more comfortable than its reputation suggests.
At Family Oak Dental Clinic, we take a gentle, straightforward approach to root canal therapy.
How Do You Know If You Need a Root Canal?
One of the most common questions we hear is, how do you know if you need a root canal?
You might need a root canal if you’re experiencing ongoing tooth pain, sensitivity to hot or cold that lingers, swelling around the gums, or discomfort when chewing.
How We Figure It Out
An exam and X-rays allow us to see what’s happening beneath the surface and recommend the right treatment.
What Is Root Canal Therapy?
Root canal therapy — sometimes called canal root therapy — treats infection inside the tooth. When the inner pulp becomes inflamed or infected, it can’t heal on its own.
During treatment, we gently remove the infected tissue, clean the inside of the tooth, and seal it to prevent future problems. In many cases, a crown is recommended afterward to strengthen the tooth, especially for molars. We’ll always explain whether you need crowns and root canal treatment together, or if a root canal without crown is an option for your situation.
How Long Does a Root Canal Take?
Another common concern is time. How long does a root canal take? For most patients, treatment is completed in one or two visits, with each appointment lasting about 60–90 minutes.
We take our time to do things properly — not rush you through. If your case is more complex, we may refer you to a root canal specialist, but many treatments are comfortably completed right here at our office.
Root Canal Recovery and Healing Time
After treatment, some tenderness is normal — especially for the first few days. Root canal recovery time is usually short, and most patients return to normal activities the next day.
We’ll give you clear aftercare instructions and check in to make sure everything is healing as expected.
We know dental pain is stressful — our job is to make it manageable.
How Much Does a Root Canal Cost in Ontario?
Cost is one of the biggest concerns we hear, and it’s a fair question. How much does a root canal treatment cost in Ontario? The answer depends on several factors, including which tooth is being treated and how complex the infection is.
Root Canal Treatment Cost Breakdown
The root canal price can vary based on:
- Front tooth vs. molar
- Number of canals involved
- Whether a crown is needed afterward
If you’re wondering how much will a root canal cost, we’ll give you a clear estimate before treatment begins. No guesswork, no hidden fees.
